This led to PR work for organizations such as at CSUN’s Public Relations Student Society as Director of Special Events, Wikipedia’s nonprofit org, Wiki Education as the Marketing and Communications Intern, and CSUN’s University Student Union (USU) as the Student Public Relations Assistant.

After graduation and having sharpened her PR and writing skills, client relations and event planning, Reema wanted to use what she learned and apply it to what she loved. Her love for food and PR led her to join the JS2 team!

3 Questions With Reema

  • What’s the best thing you cook?

I love making Bangladeshi beef curry with potatoes and rice. It’s my comfort food.

When was a memorable time you made lemonade out of lemons?

CSUN had a huge welcome-back celebration they wanted to publicize but there was only less than a week to get the word out. Since this was one of CSUN’s biggest events and I wanted to expand its news coverage beyond campus newspapers.  I pitched the Los Angeles Daily News just four days before the event, having no prior relationship. On the day of the event, the Los Angeles Daily News came asking for me and provided coverage, making it my first media placement outside of campus newspapers!

Why do you love/what makes you want to work in food and beverage Marketing?

I was born and raised in LA, and the reason I stay is because of its diverse food options. Whenever I crave a particular type of cuisine, I always search online for the best places to eat in LA. Now that I’m working in food and beverage PR, I'm eager to use my passion for food to promote my clients' restaurants and help others discover their next delicious meal.
